A mortar made for P.C. Buntze

Cast bronze with golden brown patina to the outer surface, the interior almost black. Of tapering form with a protruding base and funnel-like rim. The handles formed as dolphins. Decorated with two bands of horizontal mouldings surrounding the inscription “P.C. BVNTZE”. A short vertical crack to the rim. H 21.3, D 22.9 cm, weight 8.8 kg.
Attributed to Northern Germany, 17th C.
