A large ivory netsuke of a sennin. Ca. 1800

Dressed in a wide, long robe with a leafy cloak and apron. His weary gaze is turned to the sky whilst he raises his left hand to his ear and his right rests on his branch crutch.

An exact classification of the Sennin is difficult due to the lack of attributes. The gourd to his belt is too loosely designed to be read as a clear attribute of Chokaro Sennin. Weber's Koji-Hoten lists a Sennin Rodosho (french: naviguant sur ses vêtements) who floats on/in his clothes. Taking into account the sennin's pursed lips Dr. Jirka-Schmitz points to the Tekkai Sennin gazing after his exhaled anima.
