A parcel gilt Augsburg silver tankard

Cylindrical vessel on a domed, rounded base with repoussé fruit garlands. The pierced whitish silver overlay covering the gilt inner layer with finely chased trophies flanked by three round portrait medallions inscribed "PALAMEDES", "ORITIA", and "DIDO". The lid with corresponding decor and a round finial. With a small soldered repair on the thumbrest; the gilding partially renewed. H 16 cm, weight 719 g.
"Augsburg, marks of Israel Thelott, 1679 – 83.
The repoussé work is thought to have been carried out by Johann Andreas Thelott during his apprenticeship in his father's workshop."
