A Parisian ormolu pendulum clock with symbols of love and war

Fire-gilt bronze and ebonised wood clock with a glazed white enamel dial, pierced gilt hands and brass mountings. 14-day pendulum movement with thread suspension and half-hourly striking on a bell. The dial signed "Imbert L'ainé", the plate engraved "Imbert L'ainé AParis". Chipped and with a short crack at 12 o'clock, the attribute at the feet of Mars lost. With base H 36.6, W 31, D 15.5 cm.
Faubourg St-Antoine, Jean-Gabiel Imbert l'ainé, master since 1776.
