Carlo Albacini the Younger

Marble bust of a Youth by Carlo Albacini the Younger.

Carved in the round, the reverse of the bust hollowed out.. This finely carved bust, signed “ALBACINI F” on the right is thought to depict the Italian nobleman Prince Innocenzo IV Odescalchi (1778-1833). Carlo Albacini the Younger was the son the sculptor and restorer of Roman antiquities Carlo Albacini the Elder, who was also active in Rome. Albacini the Younger was inspired by the works of Canova, although he lent his classical prototypes a more realistic appearance.
Mounted to a round marble plinth with mouldings that is designed to fit the sculpture perfectly and thought to be contemporary. Wear with minor losses. Height 63 cm (with plinth)..

Provenance

Italian collection.
