Empowering young people. The German AIDS Foundation, together with HOPE Cape Town, are ensuring this.
HIV is never alone in the townships of Cape Town. Poverty, hunger, hopelessness are always present. How can this be overcome? The aid organisation HOPE Cape Town is taking a sustainable approach with “The Nex”. With the support of the German AIDS Foundation, it is creating a community centre in the township of Delft that focuses primarily on children and young people. They should be able to be “Delft” boys and girls and still have a chance - of a safe childhood, a guided youth, enlightenment, and education. The German AIDS Foundation has been supporting the South African organisation HOPE Cape Town for 17 years. At "The Nex," it funds the youth development center, giving children and young people a vision for the future, regardless of their origin. Only when there is a good foundation on which the people in the townships can build their future, has an important step towards fewer HIV infections been taken.
