Round foot etched with tendrils supporting a hexagonally faceted shaft and a tapering cup decorated with four crowned monograms: FR for Freiderick I, King in Prussia, SLR for Sophie Louise of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (his third wife), FWCP for Crown Prince Frederick William and SDCP for Crown Princess Sophie Dorothea. H 35.5 cm.
Potsdamer Glashütte, around/after 1708.

Susanne Netzer dates the production of fine cut glass in Brandenburg to after 1678, when most glass refiners were based in Potsdam and Berlin. Their products first had to be presented to the Elector, and only those pieces that he did not select for his own use were allowed to be resold. The first Berlin store for Potsdam glass was located on Friedrichswerder, in the warehouses of the old Berlin Packhof. There was also a store on Mühlendamm, in Breite Straße. Apart from these places, the products of the Potsdam glassworks could only be purchased at the large trade fairs in Leipzig and Frankfurt an der Oder.
