A Louis XVI pendulum clock

Gilt and burnished bronze, white marble, white enamel dial. 14-day running movement with spring suspension of the pendulum and half-hourly striking on a bell. Round case between two columns on a base designed as a balustrade of poles connected by chains. The dial signed "Rouviere A PARIS". The glass "sick", chips at 10 and below 12 o'clock. H 35, W 21.7, D 9.7 cm.
Paris, after 1781.

This clockmaker in Tardy, Dictionnaire des horlogers français, Paris 3/1972, p. 577. Jean-Louis Rouvière became a master in 1781 and is documented until 1806.
