A large wood netsuke of a sleeping shôjô. Nagoya. 19th century

Seated with head resting in its right hand, the long hair devided into strands and covering the back, the garment engraved with a shokkô pattern which is unusual for this netsuke type, the trousers engraved with lozenges. The raised cartouche without visible signs of a signature.
