A small Pala black stone stele of Ummaheshvara. Eastern India, Bihar. In the style of the 12th/13th century

Shiva holding trisula and lotus and Parvati sitting in embrace on a double lotus throne, their feet resting on a nandi and a lion in front of the throne, between the animals the ascetic Bringhi, to the sides adorants and a demon, the back-slab with a kirtimukha, Ganesha and a seated deity. All recesses filled with red puja pigments. Wooden stand.
