A rare Nymphenburg figure of a female allegory of America

A woman standing on an elliptical base with crown, drapery, bow and quiver of arrows, holding a flute in both hands. Impressed rhombus mark to the base and back of the plinth, incised model no. 569. with 3 and +. H 41 cm.

This figure as well as its counterpart (Lot 1081) clearly show the change in Wackerle's style that took place as of the late 1910s after a stay of several years in Berlin. He now avoided curves and softness as much as possible and designed his 1920 American figures standing very upright, elongated and with almost angular contours.
