A rare cast iron necklace with Classical motifs

Designed as a strand of 13 finely pierced links and a mask of Dionysos concealing the clasp. The large oval medallion depicting Eros and Dionysos after Berthel Thorvaldsen. L 42 cm.
Berlin, attributed to the private foundry of Johann Conrad Geiss, around 1830 - 40.
