A rare pair of Berlin KPM porcelain quails

Model no. 163. Naturalistically painted birds on rock perches, each holding a sheaf of wheat in its claw. With gilt bronze mountings. A tiny chip to one beak, restorations to the wheat and the upper part of the head of the second bird. H 16.8 and 16.3 cm.
Around 1765/66.

Provenance

Private collection, Westphalia, acquired from Röbbig art dealers in Munich in 1985.
