A pair of Dutch 18k yellow gold diamond and pearl "Vieri" hoop earrings with briolette-cut green sapphire droplets.

Designed as naturalistically chased wreaths of twisted branches enlivened with tiny animals such as birds in their nests, cats and snails and set with around 100 small brilliant-cut diamonds (in total 0.33 ct). Each suspending four briolette-cut green sapphire droplets (in total 1.38 ct). Hallmarks: Fineness 750, maker's mark, stone weights "GS 1,38 D 0,33". Diameter 3.2 cm. Total weight 18.08 g.
Bibi van der Velden, Amsterdam, c. 2010.

Jeweller and sculptor Bibi van der Velden was born in New York and grew up in the Netherlands and the English countryside. After training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, she decided to venture into wearable art and launched her jewellery line in 2006.
