A carved ivory Crucifixion relief, presumably West German, second half 14th century

Carved ivory with minute remains of former polychromy. High relief depiction of Christ crucified, flanked by His Mother and Saint John, beneath a Gothic architectural canopy. Right panel of a diptych with losses to the hinges and the left edge of the surround.
With some vertical hairline cracks. Minor wear and staining. Mounted in a velvet covered frame. 11.8 x 7.9 cm.
