A Hon-Minato bowl. Sakai. Around 1880

Of longish shape with rounded sides and a semicircular handle with pierced threefoils, covered by a straw yellow and bottle green glaze. Impressed seal mark underneath the glaze: Senshû Sakai Hon-Minato yaki Kichieimon. Wooden box, inscribed to the lid: ...mono hachi (...bowl) ... Kichieimon and collection number in red ink to the underside 1949 in kanji, the second wooden box with the same collection number.
Height 13.8 cm; length 18.8 cm
