Marks of Marie-Joseph-Gabriel Genu, 1798 - 1809.

Genu came from a dynasty of Parisian goldsmiths and originally worked in a workshop rented from his father near the Rue Saint-Honoré. Working closely with the imperial court goldsmith Martin-Guilleaume Biennais, he supplied, among other things, high-quality objects for the latter's elaborate travel and toilette services. His work was used by Napoleon himself as well as for members of the imperial family: Josephine Bonaparte, Pauline Borghese and Napoleon II, King of Rome - and are today represented in numerous public collections, such as the Royal Collection in London.
