South German School 18th century

A South German carved wood figure of a Saint with a Book, 18th century

Carved in the round, the reverse only summarily carved. With older polychromy and gilding, extensively overpainted. A figure of an unidentified saint standing on the original plinth, the front of which houses a now empty reliquary.
The figure with a vertical crack. Wear with minor losses to the polychromy. Height 73 cm (with plinth).
