The photograph was taken in the garden of the Prague architect Otto Rothmayer (1892-1966) with whom Sudek had a long and inspiring friendship. Rothmayer had asked Sudek to photograph the garden chairs designed by him in his garden. From a play with the objects arose the joint idea of staging this garden as a stage for an imaginary play of a 'magical enchanted garden', in which other objects and items were gradually incorporated. The arrangement of the objects and the mystical light created by the refraction of the sun's rays in the spray of the garden sprinkler make this shot a typical example of this series.
