A rare cast iron display case

Black fired cast iron with bronze coloured patina, painted zinc, later glass and mirror pane. Presumably originally a bird cage with screw or dowel fixtures for a base (now lacking). Cast in several parts. With breakages and cracks to the cones. H c. 115, W 71.5, D 73 cm.
Attributed to Royal Gleiwitz/Gliwice Iron Foundry, mid-19th C.

Private collection, Berlin, acquired in 1997 from Czubaszek art dealers.
