Georg Strauch began his training with the Nuremberg painter, draughtsman and engraver Johann Hauer in 1628. On 8 September 1635, Strauch was admitted as a master in Nuremberg. He mainly produced drawings for engravings and etchings. The present sheet is also to be understood as such a work, which explains the mirror-inverted lettering.
