Personal Favourites of KPM and Kunsthaus Lempertz: An Inspiring Friendship

KPM and Kunsthaus Lempertz have been friends for many years. On the occasion of The Prussian Sale taking place on 22nd April, Alice von Seldeneck and Jörg Woltmann reveal their personal favourites from each other’s oeuvre.

It is not easy to select one favourite from this impressive collection, for Lempertz is the best address for auctions of this quality. There are many absolutely wonderful and very special pieces amongst the exhibits. But I was especially taken by the two marbled amphora vases.

The gold-embellished vases date from the mid-19th century and display a decoration that we at KPM feel is very contemporary. We have just launched our classic KURLAND in the new Royal Marbre. The two vases in the collection offer an elegant model for this timeless design, which has been applied by hand at KPM for 260 years.

What delights me about KPM? Elegance and beauty! Collector’s items just as much as everyday objects. In my family, our parents’ passion for porcelain has already passed on to our children. Especially since they had the chance to design their own creations and paint plates themselves at KPM. The children’s programme in the Wegelystrasse is an insider tip for Berlin locals and guests!

My favourite service is Ackadia, but our day starts with the ‘Colors of Berlin’ cups. Every district has its own colours. As colourful as the city, and according to how you feel each morning. Whether Lichtenberg, Wedding or Zehlendorf. The day can only be good! Moreover, a technique from the 19th century is used on these contemporary cups, namely lustre painting, which can also be found in the Lempertz catalogues.
