Andrea Belvedere, called Abate Andrea - biography

Andrea Belvedere, one of the most esteemed still-life painters of the Neapolitan Baroque, was initially inspired by artists such as Paolo Porpora and Giovanni Battista Recco; later he took his cue from models such as Abraham Breughel and Giovanni Battista Ruoppolo and adopted their lavish opulence. As was not unusual, Belvedere, as a flower specialist, often collaborated with figure painters such as Giordano and Solimena.
