Pen and watercolour on ribbed paper, mounted. 21 x 34.3 cm.

Vertical fold to the centre. Browned.
Verso named and signed by the artist. In 1776 Desprez won the Prix de Rome, later that year he travelled to Italy and, over the following years, slowly made his way south to Sicily with Denon and Delaborde. From this region he created numerous drawings that served as sketches for Saint-Nons "Voyage Pittoresque". Our sheet is however not entered in this volume. Several other drawings from Sicily were also created in 1778 and it is likely therefore that ours comes from this year.
