Throughout their long-standing acquaintance André Villers not only created numerous portraits of the artist, but he and Picasso also collaborated on a number of works. This work is based on a negative montage. A photograph of Picasso's découpage of a seated female figure, arranged on a rock, was framed and partially overlaid by a drawing of the artist, scratched by the latter directly onto the negative.
