An important Parisian époque Louis XIV pendulum clock

Tortoiseshell with brass inlays on an oak corpus, fire-gilt bronze mountings and finial formed as Chronos. Eight-day movement with spindle, quarter-hour strike on two bells and hourly strike to a separate bell. Full calendar with apertures for the phases of the moon, date, month and weekdays. Signed to the dial FORTIN A APRIS, and engraved Nicolas Fortin AParis to the plate. Some ammendments to the case, for example the palmette finial and the socle have been replaced. H 138, W 56, D 28 cm.
