Head of a Woman
Oil on panel. 39 x 27 cm.
Max Friedländer considered this head of a woman to be an authentic work by Frans Floris, but it was more likely painted by an artist from his circle. Friedländer compares it with similar pictures by Frans Floris that were influenced by the famous depictions of female heads by Michelangelo which the artist got to know during his sojourn in Italy.
Max Friedländer, The Hague, 9.10.1940 (as an authentic work by Frans Floris).
Private collection, North Germany.
