Probably Maasland 14th century
A figure of a Bishop Saint, probably Maasland, 14th century
Wood, carved three-quarters in the round. The reverse flattened, the older polychromy partially overpainted. A stiffly frontal depiction of a standing saint in a bishop's attire, his right hand raised in a blessing; the crozier originally held in his left hand now lost. The robes show a gentle and slightly asymmetrical pattern of drapery.
With vertical cracks and losses due to woodworm damage to the plinth. Height 88 cm.
