South German 18th century

An 18th century South German carved wooden figure of Saint George.

Carved in the round, the older polychromy heavily overpainted.. A partially freestanding figure of the holy knight plunging a spear into the open maw of the dragon at his feet.
With wear and minor losses to the polychromy. The lance is a replacement. Height 59 cm.
