A Danish 14k white and yellow gold brooch

formed as a spider and set with 135 brilliant-, 8/8-, and rose-cut diamonds (the central old-cut diamond ca. 0.75 ct, H/I, VS) and a facetted tourmaline cabochon of ca. 8.55 ct (ca. 17.76 x 12.99 x 5.55 mm). In the original case. Stamped fineness 585, maker's mark "AM". L ca. 4 cm. Weight 17.5 cm.

Anton Michelsen (1809 - 1877) opened his first gold and silversmiths shop in Copenhagen in 1841, and was awarded the title of royal court jeweller. Alongside Jensen, he was one of the leading silversmiths of his time and greatly influenced the Danish avant-garde of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
