A probably Alsatian carved wooden figure of the Virgin enthroned, first half 13th century.

Carved in the round, remains of older polychromy.. A figure of the Virgin designed for a frontal viewpoint, shown seated on a moulded throne holding the Christ Child - dressed in a long robe and blessing - on Her right knee. Her head is covered by a veil and was originally crowned. Her girded dress falls in gentle folds down to her feet.
The Madonna's right arm and hands lost. A vertical crack to the left side. Losses due to insect damage, especially to the plinth. Height 51 cm.
