A Goan ivory figure of the blessing Christ Child, circa 1700.

Carved in the round. A nude, standing figure of the Christ Child with His right hand held aloft in blessing. The facial features and carving of the hair are typical of works originating in the Portuguese colony of Goa on the Indian Subcontinent.
The ends of the feet replaced, the arms visibly reattached. Fine vertical cracks and yellowing. Height 24 cm.
