Venice early 15th century

An early 15th century Venetian carved bone high-relief depiction of the last supper.

A high-relief depiction formed from two curved panels. The apostles are shown standing and gesticulating behind the table of the last supper, on the left of which Saint John sits with his head resting in Christ's lap whilst Judas sits on the right. The upper edge of the work with an architectural border. The panels were presumably originally mounted to a reliquiary chest, and appear to be the work of the Venetian Embriachi workshop.
The right panel was already broken into three pieces before entering the collection. Each with two small drilled holes. Minor wear with small losses to the lower edges of both panels. Left panel 11.5 x 4.3 cm. Right panel 11.5 x 4.3 cm..

Provenance
