Venice early 15th century

An early 15th century Venetian carved bone high-relief depiction of the arrest of Jesus.

A high-relief formed from two curved panels. The left panel shows Christ surrounded by his disciples embracing Judas, and the right panel shows Peter with Malchus and the soldiers before an imposing rocky landscape. The panels were presumably originally mounted to a reliquiary chest, and appear to be the work of the Venetian Embriachi workshop.
The upper part of the left panel lost. Each with a small, drilled hole. Minor wear. Left panel 7.9 x 4.3 cm. Right panel 11.0 x 4.3 cm..

Provenance
