Otto Modersohn
Winterlandschaft (Fischerhude)
1928
Oil on panel 43.5 x 70.2 cm Framed. Signed and dated 'O.Modersohn 28.' in blue lower left. - Slight rubbing to the corners due to framing.
The painting shows a typical view from the artist's studio. The northern branch of the river Wümme near Fischerhude is depicted. “It shows the situation just before the regulation of the Wümme and the construction of the bridge crossing it. On the auxiliary bridge there are a few onlookers and a horse with a yellow wooden sleigh slightly offset from the center. In the foreground, there is the frame of the studio window. A very fine, atmospheric winter painting of the year 1928.” (Rainer Noeres)
