A six-panel screen of Itsukushima by an anonymous painter. Ink, colours and gold on paper. Damaged and restored. 17th/18th century.

It is high tide and boats bring tourists to the entrance of the shrine complex. Behind the red torii a stage is built out into the water and filled with people, as well as the corridors with hanging lanterns. On the left we see the sutra repository Daikyôdô and a pagoda and to the far left the Horai no iwa with visitors enjoying cherry blossoms.
