A gold brooch with Roman intaglios. 11 oval intaglios in a gold openwork mount, suspending three smaller intaglios: 1.) Late Roman, corneleon, 2.) Imperial or modern era, heliotrope, 3.) Imperial, red jasper, 4.) Imperial, black jasper, 5.) Imperial, cornelion, 6.) Modern era, cornelion, 7.) Probably modern era, cornelion, 8.) Modern era, 9.) Imperial, cornelion, 10.) 4th/5th C., red Jasper, 11.) Modern era, yellow chalcedony. The edge of one jasper intaglio slightly chipped, a hairline crack to one chalcedony. H 9, W 6 cm. Weight 26.4 g.
The gems imperial Roman (1st - 3rd C. AD) and Neoclassical (18th/19th C.). The mounting probably Italian, ca. 1860-70.
