In Königsberg, the use of assay marks was only made mandatory in 1686. Although Parisius made this beaker in 1685 and stamped it twice with his hallmark, he was apparently only able to sell it in 1693. He restamped one mark with an assay mark, according to the new goldsmith's regulations, and dated it with the year mark E (cf. Czihak 1903, p. 46).
