A Piemont carved Swiss pine tondo with an angel, circa 1480

Carved in three blocks, attached to a wooden panel mounted with an applied foliate wreath. Original polychromy with gilt wax stars and brocade appliques over tin leaf to the robes.. A high-relief depiction of an angel in flight holding the sudarium before a starry sky surrounded by a laurel wreath. Presumably a vault boss.
Cracks to the laurel wreath, otherwise minimal wear. Diameter 61.5 cm.
