Italy first half 17th century

An Italian cast bronze door applique with the head of Medusa, first half 17th century.

The reverse with a bell shaped hollow from casting. The door decoration shows the head of Medusa to the centre flanked by three pairs of dynamically modelled, winged putti.
With six small drilled holes to the edge and very minor wear. Height 10 cm, diameter 19.8 cm.
