The works of Adelheid Friedericke Braun, who mainly painted still lifes, are very rare today. The Landesmuseum Mainz owns six works by the artist, and the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt owns a further piece. Two floral still lifes in a similar vein to the present work were sold by Christie's in London in 1997 (13.6.1997, lot 87 and 88).
