A gold, enamel and emerald pilgrim pendant

With an enamel depiction of a blessing Dominican monk (possibly St. Dominic) in a shell niche with a banderole inscribed "Time" (fear). The symmetrical foliate frame set with 11 emeralds, the reverse with openwork foliate engravings. With a minimal loss to the enamel. H 5 x 4 cm. Weight 16.6 g.
Spanish or Colonial, 2nd half 17th C.

A similar Spanish pendant with emeralds and a depiction of the immaculate conception dated 1640-60 is kept in the Victoria & Albert-Museum in London (inv. no. 396-1872).
