A rare Meissen porcelain figure of a shepherdess with a lute

Seated beneath a tree on an unusually large gilt rocaille base. Incised D:7: to the unglazed underside. Several restorations, some over firing cracks. H 29.5 cm
Ca. 1760, the model probably by Friedrich Elias Meyer, 1757.

Illustrated in the catalogue of the Pauls Collection (Frankfurt 1967, vol. I, p. 472) with the annotation: "The existence of another such group has not been found. Perhaps therefore this figure was a one-off piece for Friedrich II von Preussen, given to him during his occupation of the Meissen factory in the Seven-Year´s-War."
