A large and heavily cast bronze incense burner. 17th century

A large and heavily cast bronze incense burner with a compressed globular body and two large lion mask handles, supported on a short foot. At the base cast three-character seal mark Songyuelü (mirror inverted) surrounded by two dragons in relief. Later incised donor's inscription to the body reading Guangxu shier nian shi yue, mu'en, Shi Ya... jing song (Guangxu, 12th year, 10th month, to receive favor, respectfully donated by Shi Ya...). Shiny blackish patina. 17th century.
