Salomon de Bray, circle of

A Young Shepherd

Oil on panel. 63.5 x 49.5 cm.

This painting reiterates a signed work by Salomon de Bray dated 1638 which appeared on the international art market in 1992 (Sotheby's Amsterdam, 11.11.1992, lot 57). As shown by a label to the reverse, the piece was kept for a long time in the collection of Louis Dürr in New York, which he later bequeathed to the New York Historical Society.
