Maximilian Franz of Habsburg, Archbishop and Elector of Cologne.

Oil on canvas. 23.5 x 19 cm.

Maximilian Franz was the youngest son of Emperor Franz Stephan I and Maria Theresia. He became grand master of the Teutonic Order in 1780 as well as Archbishop and Elector of Cologne and Bishop of Münster in 1784. This portrait in profile shows him before he attained these honours as an Austrian Duke in armour and with the Order of the Golden Fleece.
