Mercury and Minerva An Allegory of Rulership

Oil on panel. Each 41 x 59 cm.

These panels are thought to originate from a cabinet. They have old, drilled holes to the reverse, iron staples, and key-hole shaped indentations (which do not break through to the front). Alongside the present depictions, the cabinet was probably decorated with further allegorical motifs.
