A relief depicting Saint John the Evangelist with his attributes in a broad frame with Neoclassical decor. In the original wooden frame, signed "Gold und Silberarbeiter George Schüler aus Hannover, 1824". H of relief 19.2; W 16 cm, weight 190 g. H of frame 26; W 23 cm.
Marks of Georg Daniel Heinrich Schüler, 1824.

Schüler made this relief in 1824, towards the end of his apprenticeship under the Hannover court jeweller Franz Anton Hans Nübell, before beginning his five year journeyman's period in Italy, Switzerland, and Austria.
