A Meissen Böttger porcelain smoking pagode figure

A hollow chinoiserie figure in a patterned robe. Craquelure to the interior, the silvered decor oxidised. Retouches to the gilding of the chest and to one eyebrow. H 8.3 cm.
After 1713 to ca. 1720.

These small incense burners were fashionable during the early period of the manufactory. This model was produced with varying decor, even with the early polychromy of Funcke. The pieces were placed over incense cones, and the smoke exuding from the mouth filled the rooms with scent.
