A large Louis XVI ormolu cartel clock

Re-gilt. White enamel dial with openwork hands under a glass dome. Large rectangular 14-day pendulum movement with anchor escapement, thread suspension, and half-hourly striking to a bell. Large Neoclassical cartouche-form clock with floral swags, goat's heads, and spherical finial. Inscribed to the dial and engraved to the plate "Paliard à Paris". Tin-soldered repair to the minute hand, chips around the winding holes, the glass to the sides and the pendulum aperture lost. H ca. 80 cm.
Paris, last quarter 18th C., bronze after a design by Jean-Charles Delafosse.
